Research Interests

The first objective of my research is to characterise the temporal and spatial variations within the lentic ecosystems of the Brussels region in terms of diffusive and ebullitive fluxes of greenhouse gases (CO2 , CH4 and N2O). The second objective is the development of mathematical models, on the one hand statistical models based on boosted regression trees (BRT) and on the other hand a mechanistic biogeochemical model. These two types of models will allow the identification of the biotic and abiotic factors responsible for greenhouse gases fluxes and a description of the key processes controlling them.  The ultimate goal is to study and understand the impact of climate change and extreme weather events (heat waves, floods, etc.) on fluxes of CO2, CH4 and N2O in urban lentic ecosystems.

Thesis: Study and modelling of the dynamics of greenhouse gases (CO2, CH4, N2O) in lentic ecosystems in the Brussels region.
