  • Contribution to Esa ongoing research projects and technical support for researchers, PhD and master students: participation to field campaigns, samples analysis by various techniques, design of laboratory experiments, development and application of new measurement techniques, treatment of results and participation to their interpretation.

Basic Analytic Methods:

-Chlorophyll pigments, nutrients, cellular components (lipids,proteins..) by spectroscopy and fluorimetry,

-Biological and Chemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5 ,COD),

-Enumeration of bacterial cells by epifluorescence microscopy, determination of cell size using digital image analysis

FISH (Fluorescent In Situ Hybridization) and Card-FISH,

-Heterotrophic and nitrifying bacterial activities by incorporation of radioactive substrates,

-Enumeration of fecal bacteria indicators by plate count on selective agar media, by microplates and by enzymatic activities,

-Antibiotic resistance of enteric and autochthonous bacteria,

-Diversity of bacterial communities: DNA extraction, PCR (Polymerase Chain reaction),DGGE (Denaturing Gradient Gel Eletrophoresis),…

-Drinking water microbiology: determination of fixed bacterial biomass in granular media filters and in distribution systems

  • Students’ supervision during practical session:

– Qualité microbiologique des eaux continentales et marines –BING-F-523

-Techniques de l’eau et calcul des réseaux- BING-F-524

-Structure, fonctionnement et évolution des écosystèmes Aquatiques –BING-F-410
